One Great Moment

So, it's been a crazy stressful week. I started school, moved into a new apartment, am still trying to power clean the old apartment (by tomorrow night), we had orientation for Buddy's first real school tonight, and he starts in like a day and a half.

But. After running all over the place today: going to babysitters, then babysitting in exchange, then cleaning cleaning cleaning until past his bedtime, I decided that we should take a walk in the dark to wind down from the crazy day/week/month.

I now happen to live on a street with streetlights, and it happened to be drizzling. Not hard enough that a walk was unpleasant, just hard enough to make me break into "Singing in the Rain" while dancing on the light-posts (because I'm cool that way). And my dramatic, athletic, creative son got totally into it! I guess he had never heard the song before, so he made up his own version which pretty much rocked. We danced and sang out way to exhaustion. It was a great way to end a crazy night, a wonderful moment that I hope I can remember in all the stress that comes at me daily.

I've been bad at posting pictures lately, because my life has been too busy for "capturing moments". But I am still gonna take pictures of the new apartment, I'm being slow about it only for dorky reasons. (I'm trying to mathematically calculate how to take the fewest pictures and show the most area. It's calculus. I know, I'm ridiculous!)

I'm IN!

I'm in the new apartment! All I have to do now is clean the old one from head to toe by tomorrow night, and get the water pressure fixed here since I can't take a shower yet. Ughhhhhh.
Pictures of my cute little apartment will come soon, when I have a free second!

Back to School

And... here we go again!

School started yesterday, it doesn't seem like it should be too bad this semester. I'm only taking 12 credits, which is the minimum you can take and be considered full-time, but they are ALL accounting classes and since I haven't been at this school before or ever really done anything to do with accounting I figured I'd rather give myself a better chance of success than shove a lot of classes into my first real semester of the program.

So, my classes are as follows:
Accounting 2
Payroll Accounting
Cost Accounting
Excel Applications for Accounting

Looks exciting, right? And the dorky thing is, I'm such a math geek that I think I will enjoy them :)

Overlooked this Summer...

Buddy and I did so many little activities this summer that I have a lot of miscellaneous pictures that never got posted. Either I didn't take many pictures, or it wasn't a huge event, or I just overlooked the activity.

So, since I'm sure everyone's greatest desire is to see another post of me thinking my kid is the best photo subject EVER, here are a selection of photos that were missed from this summer!
My friend  Blaze playing "kayak trip" with Buddy at a bonfire :)

First time at the pool for the summer! It wasn't very good weather.

On the train at the Splash Pad with a friend from his old preschool!

Jumping for joy at the Splash Pad!

Enjoying the jets

The most popular toy at the Splash Pad

Shiloh's fat lip and bruise from some over-zealous dancing at Concert on the Square

What happens when I tell the kiddo "You don't have to sleep, but you have to stay in your bed and read books until I say you're done!"

My favorite outdoor statue at the Woodson Art Museum. I tell Shi all the time that I'd take it home if I could!

There ya have it, folks. My summer wrap-up! Next week I go back to school, that weekend I move into my new apartment, and a few days after that Shi starts his 4K. Time is going too fast!

Just like Animal House!

Yet again, I'm painfully behind on posting!
Anyway, all last week Shiloh was with his father, spending some last minute time together before we all go back to school and there is considerably less free time for all of us. So I got to have some fun!
I did a girly shopping trip with my cousins, Korrin is getting married so we got stuff for her bridal shower/bachelorette party. The bachelorette party was toga-themed, so we ended up spending about 12 hours that day making our (amazing) togas!
A little later that week, I got to go out with some friends I hardly ever get to see. It was crazy fun, I went to Stevens Point and just hung out in a way I haven't done forever.

But for sure, the crowning achievement of the week was the bachelorette party. Check out this outfit!
I know, you can't see it all that well. And I have hardly any pictures of it. Lame. Still, just imagine the awesomeness!
We started at Applebee's, went to a few bars, and had a great time. I had to work in the morning so I didn't get to party-crazy, but Korrin definitely made up for me :)

It was a great time. And after all the effort I put into the toga, it's totally being reused for Halloween!

New Start

So, I finally finished my summer classes, and I think I did pretty well! I for sure pulled off at least B's, if not A's.
Which is pretty decent, considering my track record.
So now I have a whole week off until fall semester starts. Which kind of blows, because school will start before I have a chance to move into my new apartment, and I would really like to be settled. But, looks like that's not gonna happen!
Anyway, I'm having a rebirth of sorts right now. I'm at a new school, with a new(ish) job, getting a new apartment, have a new car and a new(ish) computer. I'm hoping that with a fresh start, I can figure out how to keep Shiloh and I organized throughout the busy year ahead.
I may need to enlist some help at times, because this is going to be an ambitious year for me. I'm going to try to cram as many classes as possible into as short a time as possible, hopefully finishing up this program by December 2012 at the latest. If I stay focused though, I think I can do it!

All's Fair in Love...

So, every year in Wausau we have this lovely tradition, the Wisconsin Valley Fair. As my mother often says, "The fair is when the toothless people climb out of the gutter for their once-yearly view of the sun," congregate on a gravel path, and spend way too much money on greasy food and overpriced rides.

Obviously, this tradition is much-loved by the people of my fine town. Except in our family, we never really got into it! Well, the fair just happens to be right down the road from my apartment, and though I had debated just keeping Shiloh in the dark about it I ended up getting invited to go with Amber and some others. So because I had some half-baked notions of being left out as a child because we didn't go, I figured I'd take him.

Seriously, I do this every year. I know now why my mom just didn't ever take us! First off, I ended up spending almost $50 on rides, tickets to get in, food, and the Demolition Derby.

I didn't even enjoy myself! I went on 2 rides, ended up getting sunstroke really bad, felt dizzy, nauseous, and thought I might pass out. I ended up leaving my kiddo with Amber, who graciously offered to finish off the fair trip for me, rather than watch me collapse.

Buddy did have fun though! Next year, I'm pawning the job off on an uncle. Dave, I'll pay you to take him! Just please, let me stay home!
Amber's brother Nick was a really nice guy and rode with Shiloh on a bunch of rides.

Making new friends on the car ride :)
